History & Heritage

Bokaro City Park was planned and constructed during the late 1970s by the Bokaro Steel Plant Town Administration as a dedicated ecological and recreational breathing space for city residents, engineers, and visiting dignitaries.

The park was artfully sculpted around a sprawling central artificial lake, fed by surrounding water reservoirs. Master landscape architects introduced Japanese-inspired arched footbridges and artificial islands, planting hundreds of indigenous Sal, Mahogany, and royal palm trees.

Over the decades, the lake has developed into an important stopover habitat for migratory birds arriving during central Indian winter months, attracting ornithologists, morning walkers, and families across the Coalfield region.
